strawmulching (Straw mulching)
Strawmulch is the most cost effective means of erosion
control available. Commercial strawmulching as an erosion control tool was
first introduced to the New Zealand market by our company
and is now one of the major methods of erosion
control protection.
Tests have shown that sediment run off is reduced by in
excess of 80%.
We have custom made track mounted machines capable of getting into
very difficult locations. All of our machines have metered
seed and fertilizer spreading facilities, another innovative
idea by Erosion Control Co ltd.

Strawmulching works by reducing the rain-drop impact and
slowing down silt migration in much the same way as leaf
litter does in the forest floor. New grass plants are
protected under the blanket of straw. We are able to use
straw mulching to greatly improve the results achieved from
our other services (Tractor Grassing and
Hydroseeding) when
they are used out of season. This is because the straw has
excellent water retention qualities in summer. In winter the
straw blanket helps keep the ground surface warn and protects the germinating seeds from frosts and
bird predation.
Unique Solutions

were asked to straw mulch large areas of open ground
that were inaccessible to machinery.
Solution: By constructing a 100 meter long lay-flat hose to connect to our strawmulching machine
